About

Welcome!
My name is Kayla Bridget Williams and I am a freelance artist, illustrator, designer, author and mom. I am a self-taught artist ever since I could hold a pencil! The photo above is me wearing kamiik made by my great grandma and namesake Bridget Jacque/Williams from Makkovik. My dad's side of the family are members of Nunatsiavut here in Labrador, From Makkovik and Rigolet areas. My moms side is Scottish and French. I love painting images of my home in Labrador, animals and other fantasy scenes from my culture and upbringing. I have had my work in a few galleries in Ontario and sell most of my original paintings. I have been featured on NTV series "Home Is Where The Art is" and on the radio.

I have done paint night and taught painting classes at multiple locations in both Ontario and Labrador, with youth and adults. I have also been a part of the Labrador Creative Arts Festival sharing my art and teaching students how to paint in the school in Cartwright, Labrador as well as with youth group You Go Girl in Goose Bay. I love working with all Ages to share my knowledge and culture. I come from a long line of crafters in my family who created the foundation of my life as an artist. I often attend local craft fairs. I am the sole owner of my business Big Land Design. I have done many public art murals locally for the college, hotel and other businesses in my town. I am currently working with a publishing company to publish my first children's book that I wrote and will hopefully be illustrating myself. I am working on a 2nd book currently and also have published my first children's coloring book featuring cultural related artwork This year.

Please feel free to send me an email at biglanddesign@gmail.com for any business inquiries. I also am available to do paint nights for private parties or businesses, schools, etc.
